Stay in our Aquavillas Resort this summer for an incredible vacation!
More than 5 million people visit the Florida Keys every year. If you’re considering joining them, now is a great time. The Keys in summer are a vibrant place full of fun and magic. The sun is bright, the water is fine, and the people are friendly. Here’s what you need to know to have the vacation of a lifetime!
What to Do
The Keys are brimming with activities and events year-round, which means that there will be plenty to do no matter when you visit., and if you stay at Mangrove Marina, Home of the Houseboat, you’ll be perfectly situated to enjoy any adventure that comes your way.
For your first stop, check out the Key Lime Festival, which celebrates all things Key Lime. You can sip and taste your way through specialty drinks, treats, and the classic Key Lime Pie.
You don’t have to go far from your houseboat rental to check out the Aquanauts to Astronauts exhibit. This exciting exhibit is located in the History of Diving Museum in Islamorada and takes a deep dive into the link between water and space. Learn about how NASA incorporates diving into their training program and those who’ve visited both the bottom of the sea and space. It runs from the end of May until the end of the year.
Key Largo is a quick drive from Tavernier, which is home to Mangrove Marina, and here, you can explore the Summer Art Show. This show is presented by the Art Guild of the Purple Isles. You can explore the work of local artists and may even have the opportunity to purchase some!
Where to Go
Although there’s plenty to do right at the marina, from swimming in the on-site pool to relaxing on your deck or checking out our bar and grill, you might occasionally want to explore the Keys a little more.
Check out the Indian Key Historic State Park, a little island that you can only access via kayak. Once there, you can fish, hike, swim, or enjoy a picnic.
Explore the wonders of the sea at Florida Keys Aquarium Encounters. This one-of-a-kind experience allows you to snorkel or dive in various tanks, feed stingrays, meet sharks and sea horses, and get up close and personal with turtles, crabs, starfish, and more.
Don’t forget to feed the tarpon at Robbie’s! This one-of-a-kind experience is an Islamorada favorite. Here, you can grab a meal of conch fritters and shrimp wraps, shop for fun and kitschy souvenirs, or feed the local tarpon, a fish that can grow up to eight feet long and weigh more than 100 pounds. They’ll eat right out of your hands!
