5. Aquarium Encounters
Get up close and personal with some of Florida’s favorite marine life with an Aquarium Encounters tour. This tour starts with a comfortable shuttle ride from your hotel, during which you can learn more about the Keys and its history. Once you get to the aquarium, you can explore the many exciting exhibits, from the Tide Pool Touch Tank and Tarpon Basin for the little ones to the Predator Reef Tank. When you are done checking out everything you want to see, you and your family can fill up on fresh fish sandwiches at a beachfront cafe before heading back for the evening.

4. Turtle Hospital
If seeing sea turtles is on your bucket list, this is the place to do it. At the Turtle Hospital, you take a guided tour of the turtle hospital and rehabilitation facilities. The tour takes about 90 minutes, during which you will get an inside look at the process of rehabbing sea turtles and learn more about their important contributions to our world. At the end of the educational experience, you can feed some of the turtles.

3. North Dry Rocks
For beginner and intermediate scuba divers, North Dry Rocks is a great place to practice and explore. This large reef system is a vibrant mix of boulder corals, soft corals, and elkhorn corals, making it an excellent choice for scuba diving and snorkeling. Ledges start just a few feet below the surface, perfect for nervous newbies and extend no deeper than 15 feet, and the wildlife ranges from minnows to lobster and barracuda.

2. Green Turtle Inn
Nestled in picturesque Islamorada, the Green Turtle Inn will feed your hungry army with plenty to spare. The Green Turtle has a menu with lots of kid-friendly favorites such as chicken fingers, mac-n-cheese, and burgers and another menu designed to appeal to more grown-up tastes, with things like clam fettuccine, shrimp scampi, and Angus smoked ribeye. Top it all off with a turtle sundae or fresh slice of key lime pie. Your visit comes complete with a side of history and some fun turtle tales for the road.

Have you ever been to an underwater park? Now’s your chance to explore what just might be one of the top kid-friendly activities in Key Largo. At the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the best attractions are spread across 70 nautical square miles of mangrove swamps, coral reefs, and one-of-a-kind marine life. You can get up-close-and-personal in a glass-bottomed boat or by snorkeling Tavernier. You can also go canoeing or kayaking, take a hike on one of the parks designated trails, enjoy a picnic or splash along the beach area. Check out the Visitor Center’s saltwater aquarium for a closer look at any of the exhibits in the park or to learn more. Concessions are available as well as beach wheelchairs.
