Are you just ready for a change of scenery?
Tired of the endless leaf piles? Is the cold starting to get to you? Are you just ready for a change of scenery? This year, maybe it’s time to start a new Thanksgiving tradition with a tropical twist. Here in the Florida Keys, we enjoy summer weather year-round, but that doesn’t mean we don’t put our own spin on the fall and winter holidays. When the rest of the country is cooling down, the Keys are heating up with adventures and fun for the whole family. Here’s what you need to know about planning your Florida Keys Thanksgiving getaway.
Thankful for Friends and Family
Much of what makes Thanksgiving so special is the way it brings us together with the people who are most important to us. At Mangrove Marina, we make it easy for you to celebrate with your closest loved ones. Our Aqua Villa houseboats are designed to fit groups both large and small comfortably. Is your group extra large? You might enjoy getting a few houseboats next to each other to boost the fun factor even more. We’ve even got houseboats designed for cozy couples.
Our guests are welcome to enjoy the marina in its entirety during their time with us. We’ve got all the amenities of a luxury resort in a quiet little hurricane hole in Islamorada. Our 20 waterfront acres feature a heated freshwater pool, gardens, Tiki huts, barbecue facilities, a bar and grill, an on-site store, and more to better meet your needs.
Thankful for Fun
Key Largo has activities and adventures for days, and the fall season just might be the best time to enjoy them. The weather tends to be mild with cooler temperatures than in the summer season, and many tourists have gone home, which means prices are lower, too.
Check out:
- John Pennekamp Park
- Theater of the Sea
- Glass bottom boat cruises and tours on the Key Largo Princess
- Harry Harris State Park

Thankful for Food
What would Thanksgiving be without food? Here in the Florida Keys, we’ve got both traditional Thanksgiving dinners and Thanksgiving meals that feature a little taste of the Keys in every bite. Check out Lazy Days Restaurant or Key Largo Conch House, both of which have featured traditional turkey dinners with all the fixings on previous Thanksgivings. For a bit more Keys flavor, try the Angler and Ale, where you can dive into peel-and-eat Key West pink shrimp, sample local jams and honey, and feast on pumpkin-crusted Atlantic swordfish.
